How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Image
My research at A2 level required me to investigate  the forms and conventions of music videos and those of the R&B genre specifically, along with the forms and conventions of digipaks and album adverts. Akin to my AS level coursework, I used video sharing site YouTube to view my videos; however, my use of Microsoft Office PowerPoint became more prominent at A2 - this was because I felt that by presenting my work visually, with screenshots from the video and colourful slides  I would be able to present my findings in way that would be more effective than just copying tables from Word onto Blogger and writing posts, which was what I mostly did at AS. I created surveys in Microsoft Office Word at both AS and A2 as a way of gathering information and views on the form and genre of film openings and music videos, respectively - this was done by creating boxes and adding text, before handing them out to students and processing the results in Excel - the reason why I dec...

Album Advert - Final Version

Image
The final version of my advert uses the inside centre image from my final digipak, which features a young man (the stand-in for my artist) sitting in a party setting, following the convention of using the artist's face on the advert and enabling the audience to know/identify who my artist is. His name (Marcus) is placed in capitals and a larger font than the rest of the text in order to highlight his importance and place his prominence above that of the album title and singles; these are placed on the left and right of his head, respectively, in a similar way to how my first advert draft was laid out. On the left of the advert, I have written the album title (Visions of Love) in capitals to highlight its importance in relation to the artist and I have placed it on two separate lines, rather than one so that it would not get in the way of the artist's face and make the advert messy and disorganised. The same has been done for the included singles ('What If' and '...

Album Adverts - Initial Ideas

Image
From above: The first, second and third  drafts of my album advert In the above designs, I used the images that appeared in one of my digipak drafts (the man standing with his back to the camera and the blue sky) and used white text, a common convention of R&B album adverts, to create the artist's name and details of the album, the included singles and the tagline 'Available now'. These inform the audience of what to expect from the album. Like the adverts I looked at during my research, the words are of various font sizes and are written in upper and lower case - I have done this to distinguish the artist from the music featured on the album and to create a visual dynamic between the features, thus appealing to the audience. In the first advert, which uses the image of a man with his back to the camera, I have provided a link to the music video (which features a scene of a man dancing in a park setting) and the digipak (the same image is used on the inside c...
